The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force has made public that 3000( Three thousand)acres of Agricultural(!) land has been granted to INELIGIBLE PERSONS under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act and the Land Grant Rules framed there under in the Metropolitan Area of Bangalore, between 1999 and 2003.Even at the rate of just one crore rupees per acre, this is a Three Thousand Crore scandal. Who are the people responsible for these fraudulent grants?Who are the grantees, what are their addresses and professions, are they Income Tax Assesses? What is the present Status of the granted lands?Whether agriculture is being done in these lands?Whether these lands have been ,now, converted to residential, industrial or commercial purposes?Whether houses, factories, godowns,or commercial complexes have come up on these lands?Whether these lands have been sold or leased out in violation of the land grant rules? A very good case for RTI activists. A CID investigation with time frame or PIL based Court monitored investigation can unmask the scandal and bring immense financial revenues to the Government. Will the Government of Karnataka act?
