The Bastrop County deputy who killed #YvetteSmith failed an Austin Police Department psychological test, as well as several Travis County patrol deputy tests. He was still hired by Bastrop County. So the question is if people (and in most cases that means people of color) are expected to obey, submit, not speak back when stopped by a cop, shouldnt the vetting of individuals who will carry a deadly weapon be handled more professionally than this? After all, a cop is a human being with flaws like the rest of us. The first line of defense against trigger happy/violent/racist police is the hiring process.
