The Battle Hymn of the Republic 2014 --- Resurgence of Slavery They thought the battle was won but some never believe in equality The fuel of greed flames the animosity on and on It was black slaves that were enslaved in the 18th and 19th centuries But the black slaves were not in a position to end slavery They were deprived of power and were too tied up in their duties and hardships of all kinds to rise This scenario is just as relevant then as is now What brought about emancipation? Its no small deed at all. It took a civil war. Now we are in the 21st century 99% of the people in this country regardless of color, are in effect enslaved by the 1% And the 1% dictates: Let me be rich and let me be richer than ever Then I shall shower charity upon thou poor stricken souls --- only if thou behave as told and serve me well Behold the promise land is within your grasp Suppress your pride your ego your dignity and repent, thou greedy sinners who hunger for part of my wealth Accept your status as my subordinate You already have your good enough and big enough dwellings Breed just enough of your kind to serve me well but not so much that you will be a threat Dare not hold me random with strike or protest for there are plenty of your kind everywhere overseas who are only too happy to serve me for less Be grateful and do as your are told The social, political and economic scale tilted further and further from a equilibrium as the heartless minority got stronger and stronger But conditions are not as desperate as the old days Many become complacent in a subsistence level of survival Many cannot afford to rock the boat If only the 99% would unite and take control... Do we need another civil war to free the oppression of majority by the rich and powerful? This country shouldnt need philanthropist and certainly doesnt need a civil war. It just needs fair pay and constant progress on infrastructure with routine quality maintenance, with budget set aside for annual improvement and future upgrades instead of giving away the majority of its profits to CEOs as salary increase or bonuses. Whatever the American business schools are teaching is too profit oriented and does not serve the country well. There has to be more emphasis on social conscience. Corporations have to offer higher pay for the middle managers and workers and cut back on the insanely huge salary and perks for the top level. Hopefully not far from now, every American citizen can keep their heads high and once again affirm that they have no doubt in declaring,I am proud to be an American.
