The Battle of Gettysburg began 150 years ago today. From what I - TopicsExpress

The Battle of Gettysburg began 150 years ago today. From what I have read, it was the beginning of the end of the Confederacy, the only adversary to launch a land attack on the United States since the War of 1812. The was was essentially about slavery. Some may claim that the battle over "states rights" were the catalyst that caused it, but those "rights" were based in owning other human beings for economic gain, which I believe equates to slavery, not some imaginary "noble cause". Many people believe that there is some merit in flying the Confederate battle flag to show their "rebel" nature. What they are doing is aligning themselves with a cruel, violent ideology that promoted racism, treason and a political and military enemy that killed more U.S. soldiers than Vietnam. The Ku Klux Klan marches under that very same flag, need I say more?
