The Battle of Nations: In October 2013, re-enactors from much of Europe gathered for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig, which was painstakingly recreated on the original battlefields of 1813 at the same dates and time as the original. Brandenburg Historica salutes filmmaker, producer and composer Dr. Dmitry Akimov for capturing this event in unforgettable and poetic fashion; in his short film, we see the battle from the viewpoint of the ordinary soldier, who stood in the hail of musket balls and grapeshot even as birds sang and the German autumn unfolded in all its kaleidoscopic glory.
