“The Benefits of Prayer and Confession” (Psalms 91:1-13) “This chapter of the Book of Psalms shows us many benefits of prayer and confession and that’s what we will be looking today. The first verse said; “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” This verse speaks of prayer. And the second verse said; “I will say to the Lord, My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” This verse speaks of confession. Now let’s see what are the benefits of prayer and confession from this chapter of Psalms. 1. Protection. He will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Vv. 1b 2. Deliverance. For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Vv. 3 3. Covering. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. Vv. 4 4. No fear and destruction. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. Vv. 5-6 5. Complete victory towards our enemies. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Vv. 7-8 6. No evil, no plague. No evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. Vv. 10 7. We have angels as personal bodyguard. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. Vv. 11-12 8. Authority over adversary. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. Vv. 13 These are the benefits of having intimate fellowship with God and confessing the Word and Who God is in our lives.”
