The Best Way to Kill Yellow Jackets ... is to cover their hole with a large plastic or glass container. If you let them see the sunshine, theyll keep trying to leave the nest, get confused, go back inside, try again ... etc. Theyll eventually die from starvation/dehydration. If you cover the hole completely, theyll just dig another entrance and continue on with business. Here are 2 of my 3 yellow jacket nests I just found ... one was almost a dead nest. I went out this morning to check on them an some crazy animal had dug up the nest. Is yellow jacket larvae a delicacy for raccoons and such?
