The Betrayal of Enzo It was a dark day after Christmas for the sweetest Chocolate Lab in all the land. The day started in glorious fashion, sunny and warmish, Enzo and his partner in all things fun and forbidden, bounded to the Jeep for a romp in their much loved woods and dips in the cold, deep streams. Once there, and deep enough in the woods, leashes are unhooked, despite the posted sign at the entrance to the trail stating that dogs must be leashed at all times..a law apparently made to be broken judging by the dogs we pass by racing and leaping over downed trees, splashing and introducing themselves to each other, and their owners shouting to each other, Its O.K.! Hes friendly! Beau and Enzo stay close enough usually, but today ran ahead to greet some other dogs already splashing about. Enzo the lovable goof, stopped to greet a man who was wielding a sharp stick like a sword, and began yelling at him, and stabbing at his chest with his stick. A nearby dog owner intervened and held Enzo while we raced to get to him. He seemed fine, but the man had no remorse, showing us the sharp stick and advising us to leash our dog. Enzo has never met a human that didnt like him, and never one that has tried to harm him. In the car on the way home, he rested his head on his best friends rump and it seemed to be the end of innocence for him..poor Enzo.
