The Bible, a Praying Aid Rom 8:26-27, Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. When we pray we tap into a reservoir of divine power. It is for this reason that Satan-induced phlegmatism assails us to weaken us. Various grisly human experiences paralyze us to the point where we fail to pray, at times we we long for intimacy with God but words fail us. I read an interesting article, Praying the Psalms. The author argues that the Psalms ...give us words to pray, the Psalms teach us that we pray first and later feel what we pray. Dragoslava Santrac, Ministry Magazine, November 2013. As an ardent student of the Bible, it is my conviction that the whole Bible gives me the same experience because 2 Timothy 3:16 says, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. At times in our zeal to pray publicly or privately, we find ourselves praying, repetitious, exhibitionist, and doctrinal utterances that have no meaning. Some times we dont know what to pray. Yes, we need to pray from the heart and spontaneity should prevail, but the Bible helps us to express our desires to God in ways unimaginable. As Paul says, the Holy Spirit interprets our prayers but He also authored the Bible so lets use the scriptures to commune with God. The Bible is indeed a praying aid...
