The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as an agent in creation.According to Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible, The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, which includes God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is Gods divine power that dwells inside every Christian. The concept of the Trinity can be difficult to understand, and even more difficult to teach. However, you can learn how to teach about the Holy Spirit and help people understand its role and function in the life of a believer.Difficulty:ModerateInstructions1.Introduce its function in the Old Testament. Genesis 1:2 names the Spirit as participating in creation. Gods Spirit often rested on numerous people to equip them to do special work for him. Provide scriptural examples of this. For example, in Judges 15:14, God gave his Spirit to Samson to equip him to defeat the Philistines.2.Highlight its deity. According to the Bible Knowledge Commentary, the Holy Spirit plays a distinctive role from the Father and the Son. Acts 5:3-4 demonstrates that God and the Holy Spirit are the same. Peter tells Ananias that he has lied to the Holy Spirit, and then later says he has lied to God. Peter is talking about the same person, not two different people. Romans 8:9 speaks of the Spirit of God which lives inside. Romans 8:10 speaks of the Christ within. The terms are interchangeable because they are both members of the triune God.3.Contrast its function in the New Testament. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit rested on individuals to equip them for service, but it did not remain with them. In the New Testament, following Jesus resurrection, God permanently gave the Spirit to all who were saved.4.Illuminate the Holy Spirits role as a seal. In Ephesians 1:13, Paul describes the Holy Spirit as a seal of ownership. According to the Bible Knowledge Commentary, a seal on a document in New Testament times identified it and indicated its owner, who would protect it. The Holy Spirit confirms that Christians are identified with Christ. They are Gods property and he protects them.5.Illuminate the role of the Holy Spirit as a deposit. A deposit serves as a guarantee that the person who made the deposit will return for the merchandise. In the same way, the Holy Spirit acts as a guarantee that God will complete what he has begun, and guarantees the Christians inheritance in heaven.6.Demonstrate the role of the Holy Spirit in the believers life. According to 2 Corinthians 3:18, the Spirits primary role is to transform the believer into the image of Christ. The Spirit lives inside the Christians heart and helps him to make Godly decisions. Romans 8:26-27 describes the Holy Spirit as an intercessor who knows what is in a believers heart and prays for him when he doesnt have the words to pray for himself.
