The Bible is the word of God that is of the Spirit as well as it is a book. "John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto him. John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." We study this book as we study any other book. As we study, our brain gathers information from the book and we remember it. Even though we can study the material contents of the Bible, we cannot receive the spirit contents unless it is revealed to us by God. "Matt 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." If God has given his spirit to a person, the word that is spirit will impart to the spirit of the person. So, the Spirit person understands the things of God.
