The Bible talks about two kinds of faith. The natural faith and the spiritual faith. The natural faith is the faith based on what we see, while the spiritual faith is the faith based on what we do not see. The natural faith was the kind that Thomas had after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. John 20:24-25, But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. Thomas faith was based solely on physical evidence. He believed only what he could see, not what God said. . Thomas had the natural faith. Abraham on the other hand had the Spiritual faith. He would never have received the promises of God if he had gone by what he could see and what his physical senses told him. Romans 4:19-21, And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarahs womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. Common sense tells us that a 99 year old man and a 90 year old woman are not going to be able to have children. Yet Abraham believed Gods promise that he was to be the father of many nations, and he believed it. Abraham believed according to what God said, not according to how he felt. He didnt believe his feelings; he didnt believe based on what he saw; he didnt believe his physical senses. His faith was based on Gods promise. You dont have to look like it to take delivery of the promises of God. You just have to believe it to take delivery of it.
