The Binghamton Police Juvenile Division recently arrested a juvenile suspect for a string of crimes that were committed over the past week on the west side and downtown areas. The juvenile is 13 years old and resides in the City of Binghamton. The juvenile was brought to Broome County Family Court on the following charges and was sent to Hillbrook Detention Center in Syracuse, NY. • Robbery 2nd degree, a Class C Felony o Incident near Recreation Park where two cell phones were taken from high school students walking home from school. • Grand Larceny 4th degree, a Class E Felony o Incident in the area of Court St. and Collier St. where property was stolen from a person • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by Persons Under 16yrs old, a Juvenile Delinquent charged in Family Court. o Incident in the area of North St. and Murray St. where the juvenile was in possession of a BB Gun and fled from police. • Criminal Trespass 3rd degree, a Class B Misdemeanor o Incident in the area of 31 Main St. where the suspect attempted to assault a high school student. Additional arrests are expected. Chief Zikuski states that “As I have previously mentioned, we have seen an increase in serious crimes committed by juveniles. The Binghamton Police Department remains committed to the safety of the residents of the City of Binghamton and will continue to address the issues this community is faced with regarding juvenile crimes.” Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Binghamton Police Juvenile Division at 607-772-7088.
