The Binghamton Police Juvenile Division recently arrested three juvenile suspects for a string of robberies that occurred earlier this month on the west side. All three suspects are 15 years old. Two of the suspects reside in Binghamton and one in Endicott. The suspects were charged with robbery, released to the custody of a parent and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Family Court. The first incident occurred on 10/6/2014 in the area of Leroy Street and Murray Street. The victim was a 20 year old male who was assaulted and had his cell phone and wallet stolen. The second incident took place the same date and occurred in the area of Murray Street and Seminary Avenue. The victim was a 21 year old male and the suspects attempted to steal his laptop. They were unsuccessful in stealing the laptop and the victim was able to get away from them. The third incident occurred on 10/7/2014 in the area of Clinton Street and Jarvis Street. The victim was a 21 year old male and the suspects attempted to steal money and his bicycle. One of the suspects displayed what appeared to be a handgun. The suspects fled when a motorist stopped and started yelling at the suspects. The victim sustained minor injuries. Chief Zikuski states that “Recently we have seen a slight increase in robberies of this nature where groups of juveniles are the suspects. The fact that the suspects in these robberies are juveniles and all three have past juvenile arrests is very disturbing. I can only hope that as these young teens pass through the Family Court system they are given the focus and attention that they are in need of.” Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Binghamton Police Juvenile Division at 607-772-7088.
