The Bishops Bible of 1568 is often considered the forgotten Bible - TopicsExpress

The Bishops Bible of 1568 is often considered the forgotten Bible in the history of the English Bible. It was the project of Archbishop Matthew Parker (1504-75). Despite the less than stellar translation, Parker created a committee system that laid a foundation for future translation work. The Bishops Bible also served as the starting point for the King James Bible of 1611. The KJV translation committee were given special copies of the Bishops Bible as a starting point. In the end the translation committee abandoned revising the Bishops and created a new translation. A parallel example in history was the creation of the United States Constitution. The Constitutional Convention was originally convened to simply revised the Articles of Confederation (the original US Constitution). The photos of the Bishops here are from a copy on loan to the seminary.
