The Blessing From Salvation - Romans 5: 1-6 (NKJV) “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” God’s word says that we, God’s children, have been blessed with all spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, “(Eph. 1:3). In Romans 5, Paul, the Apostle, expounds on this redemptive blessing of God in Christ Jesus. Justification is a blessing from God obtainable through Jesus Christ only. Christ and Christ alone became a sin offering so that we might become the righteousness from God. In the perfect substitute that He became in my place, I have access to forgiveness, remission of sin and a new spiritual status – I was forgiven and the records of my sins were wiped away. Now, that I am declared not guilty by God based on the propitiation and redemption through Christ Jesus, I have “peace” with God. Peace with God – reconciliation. A broken fellowship between God and man, you, is now restored. Peace of God – this is the state of absolute confidence, trust in and submission to God and His will. Peace from God – this is the calmness that pervades and keeps the heart even in the midst of the greatest storm. Unfortunately, all Christians have peace with God, but many do not experience the peace of God and few only enjoy peace from God. At salvation, the kingdom of God is deposited into our heart in the spiritual form through the Holy Spirit. This kingdom is not physical, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 14:17). Joy and hope are generated in our hearts through the Spirit of God that came into our hearts as Paul wrote, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 15:13). Hope is vital because it is the womb of faith. Hope produces desire which is the object of faith. In this blessing, we have access by faith into this grace. His full pardon, justification, enables us to stand in this grace of God. Therefore, anyone who has received divine justification is graced to experience hope, joy and love. Paul admonished both the Colossians and the Ephesians to live out this fruit of the Spirit in their walk with God. He said, “Be joyful. Be filled with hope. Sing to the Lord a new song. Make melodies.” “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col. 3:16). “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God” (Eph. 5:15-21). Justification is the blessing from God through Christ Jesus.
