“The Blessing of Fearing the Lord and Having Great Delights in His Word” (Psalms 112:1-8) “Our topic for today is the blessings of having the fear of the Lord and having great delights in His Word. Our text is found in the Book of Psalms chapter one hundre twelve and verses one to eight; “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid.” Makikita natin ang mga inilahad ng Psalmist na pagpapala sa mga taong may takot sa Diyos at sa mga nalulugod sa Kanyang mga Utos. Una makikita natin na magiging makapangyarihan ang kanyang mga lahi. Ang pangalawa na pagpapala ay ang henerasyon daw ng mga matuwid ay pagpapalain o mga pinapagpala. May tiyak na magandang kinabukasan ang mga taong matuwid sa harapan ng Lord. Ang pangatlo ay ang kasaganaan at kayamanan ay nasa kanyang bahay at tahanan. In other words ang total prosperity ay suma sa kanya at ang kanyang katuwiran ay magpa walang hanggan. At ang isapa ay laging may ilaw sa dilim. In others words, in every problem that he will encounter there will always is a solution. Tapos binanggit din ng Psalmist ang mga katangian ng isang taong may takot sa Diyos at nagmamahal sa Kanyang Salita. Siya ay mabiyaya, mahabagin at matuwid. Isa rin siyang mapagbigay at nagpapahiram. Ang ibig sabihin ay di siya kaylanman kinukulang dahil siya ang nagpapahiram hindi siya ang nanghihiram. He is also a man of justice and he will never be moved like a rock. Tama ang sinabi ng ating Panginoon sa Kanyang turo sa Ebangelio ni Mateo; “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24-27) Hindi rin siya kaylanman man makakalimutan dahil sa mga bagay bagay na ginagawa ng Lord sa kanyang buhay. Hindi siya kaylanman natakot sa masamang balita sapagkat ang kanyang puso ay nagtitiwala sa Diyos lamang. At dahil dito ang kanyang puso ay nakatuon at nagtitiwala ng buong buo sa Diyos kaya di siya kaylanman matatakot. Kung gusto nating maranasan din ang naranasan ng taong tinutukoy ng Psalmist simple ang gawin natin. Magkaroon din tayo ng takot sa Panginoon at dakilang pagmamahal sa Kanyang mga Salita. Ang ibig sabihin ng fear of the Lord ay una; “Pagkakaroon ng malalim na respeto sa Kanya at pagkakaroon ng galit sa kasalanan.” Ang pangalawa ay, “Pagmamahal sa mga minamahal Niya at pagkamuhi sa mga kinamumuhian Niya.” At ang pangatlo ay, “Pagkakaroon ng awareness sa Kanyang presence.” We know that He is Omni-presence or present everywhere. When we have the awareness of His presence we can never sin against Him anymore like Joseph. Kailangan din na matindi dapat ang pagmamahal natin sa Kanyang mga Salita. Dapat araw-araw binabasa natin ito at pinagbubulay-bulayan. Dapat din natin itong isinasagawa ang lahat n gating nababasa. Tularan natin si Joshua; “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8) Ganito rin ang sinabi ng aklat ng Mga Awit; “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” (Psalms 1:2-3) May payo din dito si Santiago; “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” (James 1:25)
