The Bling Ring (2013) Plot: In the fame-obsessed world of Los Angeles, a group of teenagers take us on a thrilling and disturbing crime-spree in the Hollywood hills. Based on true events, the group, who were fixated on the glamorous life, tracked their celebrity targets online, and stole more than 3 million in luxury goods from their homes. Their victims included Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, and Rachel Bilson, and the gang became known in the media as “The Bling Ring.” Written and directed by Oscar winning Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette), The Bling Ring stars Emma Watson (Harry Potter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Leslie Mann (This is 40, Knocked Up), Taissa Farmiga, Claire Julien, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Georgia Rock, and Gavin Rossdale. Review: Whilst watching this movie, I just couldnt believe that this story was true. I honestly thought that this movie could have been made much better because the concept was great. The director, Sofia Coppola, concentrated on what was in the stars wardrobes more than the actually kids who robbed the stars homes. You dont really get a chance to know what is going on in the kids heads and the movie made the it look like they were just walking into stars homes with ease. It just seemed like a bunch of spoiled kids who want what they cant afford and who are brain washed by magazines by wanting materialistic things. I was intrigued with the real story, but I was disappointed with the film. Round-Up: I was glad that they had some information of the real Bling Ring on the DVD because I found that more interested in that story than the film. It seemed like the cast and director was more interested in what was in Paris Hiltons wardrobe than the actual story. I was hoping for a more in depth look into the individuals. Anyway, the actors put in average performances, with a out of this world backdrop of the L.A lifestyle. Budget: $15million Worldwide Gross: $19million I recommend this movie to people who are into teenage movies who going around robbing from the rich in L.A. 3/10
