The Body Type Myth! - So we have the three somatotypes: ectomorph, endomorphs & mesomorphs. Most of us will have already been told that we fit into one of these types & that we may be unable to achieve certain goals due to our body types. Excuse my french but thats BS. The idea of body types were raised in 50s with the best information provided at the time. Why are we still clinging to this outdated science. My theory is that as humans we love when we are given built in excuses ; didnt gain muscle? we blame not having those ectomorph genetics. Didnt lose fat? not my fault, its endomorph issues. How is he so ripped? hes a mesomorph, must have been born that way!? No no.. im not saying that we dont have SOME genetic dispositions. But this is not the be all and end all and im sure the majority may agree we are all waaaayy to different to be put into 3 groups? Granted, if you dont have the genetic gifts, you can train your heart out and never look like Arnie, but that doesnt mean you cant be that muscular guy. On the other hand, as a girl - you may never achieve the body of a supermodel but that doesnt you cant look amazing! Please take away from my lengthy rant - to stop relying on built in excuses. They only hold you back. You are the body type that you decide you are!! Work for it :)
