The British Embassy, Kathmandu together with Search for Common Ground (SFCG) hosted a interaction program with student leaders and young entrepreneurs to mark the ‘International Youth Day’ on 11th August, 2014. Speaking in the interaction program were His Excellency Andy Sparkes, Mr. Gagan Thapa from Nepali Congress, Mr. Sarad Rasaili from ANNFSU-R (MAOIST) , Mr. RC Sharma from YCL (UMAOIST) and Mr. Niranjan Shrestha from NYEF (FNCCI). Speaking in the interaction program, Ambassador Sparkes, said that the young generation should start thinking what do they need for their future to stay in Nepal rather than going aboard seeking employment opportunities. He encouraged youths to engage in development in the field of Information Technology, Fashion, Music etc, which are youth-friendly sectors in which Nepal has potential, so as to create opportunities and jobs here in Nepal, and contribute to a peace dividend of increased prosperity. Ambassador Sparkes also inaugurated the friendly futsal match between youth politicians and young entrepreneurs today. Speaking in the inauguration, he said ‘both youth politicians and young entrepreneurs’ are the future of the country and they should work together hand in hand to create a better Nepal. He wished both the teams good luck and encouraged them to come together in a common ground to help make Nepal a better, safer, peaceful and prosperous place to stay.
