The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Office No. 5 shall showcase Bicol’s fishery products in the 1st Bicol Aqua Fair to be featured by the Bishop Francisco Gainza Trade Fair (BFGTF) on September 12-22, 2013 at Elias Angeles St. in Naga City. This was bared during the Press Launch at the Archbishop’s Palace last June 12, 2013. The BFGTF is organized by the Archdiocese of Caceres through the Caceres Social Foundation, Inc. and this year’s event is supported by five major partners, namely: BFAR-5, DTI - Camarines Sur,ABS-CBN,Globe Telecom and PRIME Digital Studios. It carries the theme:“Linalang kan Diyos Atamanon, Negosyong Matanos Patalubuon, Maimbod na Pagtubod Padanayon”. The eleven-day event shall be held in an aircon tent containing 80 booths with an activity center. It shall promote micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to sell their goods such as fish and aquatic products, processed foods, organic and natural products, health and wellness services, fashion accesories, handicrafts, souvenir and religious items, furniture & furnishings, agricultural products, ornamental plants, franchising, direct selling, real estate insurance, tools and equipment. This trade fair is a big opportunity for BFAR to support the fisherfolk and women’s associations in promoting their fishery products during the Peñafrancia festivities by renting half of the venue or 40 booths. BFAR shall also showcase its processed fishery products from RFFC, Fabrica, Bula and Mercedes Pilot Fish Processing Plant. BFAR shall also conduct free seminars in the activity center for five days about post-harvest technology, culture of fish, seaweeds, shrimp and mudcrab as well as introduce organic aquaculture. Meanwhile, other BFAR regional offices shall also participate in the event to share their fisheries technologies and sell their products to the Bicolanos.(ajoven/rcanabe)
