The Business Managers’ Steering Group are organising a Schools’ Procurement Fair on Tuesday 8th October 2013, which is for the benefit of Headteachers, Business Managers and Governors. The aim of the fair is to provide information and updates which will enable schools to work together and save money. There will be guest speakers which will include Adrian Blight from Imagine Education, Sharon Roberts from Computers4Africa and many more. Please find below the information on what the speakers will be discussing, Adrian Blight from Imagine Education will be discussing the future of ICT in the classroom, this is not about the technology it is about the learning. He will also be discussing what the potential impacts on schools are as we know them today with particular reference to future-proofing procurement and spending plans. There will be a PAPH session which will be an update on current education issues, including HR and Property & Compliance. Sharon Roberts from Computers4Africa will be discussing why when disposing of your schools old IT equipment money can be saved, Ofsted targets can be met, Students will develop awareness to other cultures, know the reuse and re purpose of old PC’s lives will be transformed and gain positive publicity for your School. Ian Parker from Literacy Boxes – helping hand of hope will be discussing how Literacy in a box sends basic school materials to children in Zambia to give hope that through education they may work their way out of the twin threats of poverty and AIDS. Tom Goldsmith from Educate Services will be talking about how as a Business Manager of a school getting the best value for money is one of the many tasks you are responsible for. It’s probably something Business Managers work on every day, whether that’s getting 3 quotes, negotiating with suppliers or even with the teachers. Jon Coleman from eSchools will be informing you how you can engage students, teachers, teaching assistants, parents, governors and the office staff in one ‘easy to use’ online platform. There will be a focus on how to engage parents and how to accelerate student learning outside of the school day. Ken Corish from SW Grid for learning will be discussing how to shape the net-generation; the challenge and how to exceed expectation. He will show an overview of current research trends and behaviors, he will show you how to do an inspection of online safety. Please find attached the flyer which indicates the speakers and workshops that are being held at the fair and a booking form that needs to be filled out and returned to us ASAP as session places will be issued on a first come first served basis. The final deadline will be Wednesday 25th September. Please note that this event is free of charge!
