The Byzantium Empire was once seen as the centre of Europe, if not - TopicsExpress

The Byzantium Empire was once seen as the centre of Europe, if not the world. Its capital city was Constantinople which in 1453 fell following the muslim conquest into Europe which would later become the Islamic capital of the Ottoman Empire. Today its known as Istanbul in Turkey. During the Ottoman days the Hagia Sophia Church was turned into a mosque and after the dismantling of the Ottoman Empire after world war one, it would later become a museum as a testament to a secular founding of the modern Republic of Turkey. Today, as the West meets the East,Turkey is again going through a change to stricter islamic piety, a one in which also involves a campaign to re-open this Church again as a Mosque. Sheikh Imran Hosein is said to be a Sunni Islamic scholar who holds some responsibility for his moderate/extreme views which can be contributed to a new islamic revival and terror now seen within the world today.
