The C2R is sadly coming to an end. A note from Rio by Trevor Wilkins PERSONAL NOTE FROM TREVOR RHQ is sort of winding down on meeting each and every yacht as they cross the line - its not only the excitement of the top yachts but the excitement of the races within races and the personal achievements of all competitors as they square up against the ocean storms frightening as they may be....they hone their skills and yachties come out of this with so much more real experiences.......lots to talk about around the teak reef! But also the frustration of the drifters .... mix this with beauty of the sunsets ...the smell of freshly baked bread...the delight of catching fish and devouring sushi and the gourmet meals that follow - the quaffing of the ice cold beers on arrival as handed over by the Race committee team - WOW I guess this is what the Cape2Rio is all about! For me the privileged of being able to experience your arrivals thro the lens, catching up on some sleeps on the floor of the sailing office, working together with Ray, Liz and Toni (who sadly had to leave for England to say goodbye to her Mom) and swapping a few laughs has been an experience that one could only dream of. The Race organising Chairman, Ray, together with Liz, have been tireless in their personal attention to each and every detail often working right thro the night......... So far Rio has seen the arrival of: Maserati, Scarlet Runner, DSTV Explora, Privateer 40, Iskareen, Rocket, Ciao Bella, Mussulo III, Nomad, the Amtec Wits team on Aladdin, HQ2, Windgat, Yolo, Cool Runnings, Genevieve Too, Jacaranda of Carrick, INSV Mhadei, Perie Banou II, Vulcan 44, and Myrtle of Bonnievale
