The CASTE SYSTEM and the DOWRY SYSTEM are MONSTERS ! The Indians and Sri Lankans ought to be ashamed of clinging to the relic of outdated Caste System. The CASTE SYSTEM is a CRUEL MONSTER in India to the SUPPRESSED / OPPRESSED COMMUNITIES who call themselves DALITS. As a Sri Lankan Tamil, I am ashamed of the fact that even the untold, unbearable SUFFERING caused by the long war has NOT dealt the expected DEATH BLOW to the CURSED, INHUMAN, SHAMEFUL CASTE SYSTEM among the Tamils. :-( There are many Tamils opposed to the Caste System, but this is not enough. The very system must be condemned and thrown out by every single person ! (i) Mans inhumanity to man, make countless thousands mourn ... (ii) 2600 years ago - BUDDHA showed the RIGHT PATH to individuals, Families, Communities, Nations, the entire Human race ... HE said : COMPASSION + COMMON-SENSE WISDOM = RIGHT MINDSET resulting in RIGHT LIVING ... But the IMBECILES we are, we Praise him but do not follow him - to such an extent, that the glorious chant BUDDHAM SARANAM GACHCHAAMI has certainly helped individuals - but not our nation, and certainly not the MANKIND ! :-( (iii) SELF-CENTREDNESS + LACK OF PRINCIPLES + HYPOCRISY in Religion and Politics - is the ROOT-CAUSE of EVIL in every country in the world ... :-( (Again, one gets reminded of BUDDHA who warned against avarice, selfishness, and hypocrisy - and insisted on Compassion, Equality, Right Perception, Right Precepts, Right knowledge, Right Mindset, Right Living ...) (iv) The CASTE SYSTEM and the DOWRY SYSTEM are CURSES that must be rooted out !
