The CBC brass just announced that its terminating the employment - TopicsExpress

The CBC brass just announced that its terminating the employment of prominent culture show-host Jian Ghomeshi — without disclosing reasons. Shortly after his father died, Ghomeshi announced he needed more time off to deal with the deep personal issues that loss brought on. Firing in that context seems callous (at best), but worse is the hidden reason: Information came to our attention recently that in CBCs judgment precludes us from continuing our relationship with Jian, said a spokesman for the network. As a listener to the show I feel we all have a right to know what information this was that supposedly makes it OK to fire the popular show host. Apparently Jian doesnt know either, or he would not have launched a lawsuit in response. Covert justification sounds like disguised wrongful dismissal. When, on top of giving Ghomeshi the boot while hes down, management refuses to say what information came to [their] attention, it is a red flag for me (but Ill try to refrain from theorizing). I have not heard anything in the Q programs that deserved such dismissal. I was prepared to wait out his progress through grief until he could come back on air with a fresh vision for his general arts and culture show. Lets not forget that the CBC still belongs to the Canadian People. I call on fellow citizens to express both to MPs and to the CBC itself that this not just a slap in the face to a creative and entertaining broadcaster, but also is a very shoddy way to treat the listening public.
