The CDC (Center for Disease Control) has its hands full with vector bourne diseases, ebola and enterovirus D68. Chikungunya is a virus that is spread via infected mosquitoes who have contracted the viruses when it bit a person who is sick with the virus. Other mosquito diseases include Malaria, Yellow Fever, Dengue and West Nile Virus. The best form of defense against these recent outbreaks is educating yourself, not panicking, healthier diet, sanitatizing and extermination in and around your home and work. Paying close attention to symptoms that are often mistaken for having a cold, that persist longer than a week. Also, take precautions(proper ventilation and proper measurements with chemicals) when sanitatizing and exterminating because it could trigger or worsen existing health conditions. cdc.gov
