The CPLP ( Comunidade dos Países da Lígua Portuguesa/ The Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries ) is a bloc composed of eight countries of which Timor-Leste is also a member. One of the features of the CPLP is that its members are linked by a common language and shared social-cultural and democratic values which act as a conduit among countries separated by great distances on different continents, Africa (Angola, Cape-Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tome e Principe), the Americas (Brazil), Asia (Timor-Leste) and Europe (Portugal), The Summit of the CPLP is a biannual Conference of Heads of State and Heads of Government from eight member countries and associate observers. Timor-Leste is hoping that the result of this years Summit will not only consolidate the role of the CPLP in addressing the challenges and the difficulties faced by its own members, but also constructively contribute to regional and global affairs.
