The CT scan..... It is interesting how fast something can change. I have found with Shellys transplant that nothing is a sure thing. Your life can change in a matter of seconds, minutes, hours, or days. Mark, Shelly and I spent a very long day at UC Davis. We met with Shellys transplant nurse and doctor. Each answered several of our questions. They explained the time frame and what was going to happen. We stopped by the Kiwanis House (my home away from home) where I will be staying. Shelly then had a CT scan and we headed toward home. We didnt get a half hour down the road when Shelly got a phone call from her nurse. The CT scan..... The scan showed that she has a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot) in her lung. So....the doctor called our pharmacy and I stopped to pick up a prescription to help thin her blood. It was decided that the transplant is going as scheduled. We check into the hospital next Friday at 7:00 a.m. It is hard to express how days like this feel. Sometimes you feel a little picked on.
