The California legislation I pushed this week would raise taxes on - TopicsExpress

The California legislation I pushed this week would raise taxes on companies with wide disparities between CEO pay and the median pay of their workers, and lower taxes on companies with low disparities. The tax would hit particular industries especially hard. A new report from Demos shows the average CEO at fast food companies earned $23.8 million last year, more than quadruple what was earned by fast food CEOs in 2000. But the average hourly wage of fast food employees has only increased 0.3% since 2000, to just over the minimum wage. In recent years most the incentives operating on companies have been to raise the pay of CEOs and other top executives while reducing the pay of front-line workers. It’s high time to reverse those incentives. The California corporate tax proposal may be a start. You agree?
