The California penal code. No, it’s not a list of rules and - TopicsExpress

The California penal code. No, it’s not a list of rules and regulation regarding penises. Well, some of it is but that’s not it’s overall intent. Instead it lays the laws of the land here in the golden state and allows us citizens to know what is and what is not illegal. Here’s the funny thing. Murder is code section 187. Think about that. That means the founders of our state, when drawing up our most sacred laws, found 186 things to be more important than murder. If I had been writing it, that would have been number 1. It would have been California penal code section 1: Don’t kill me, Bro. So what’s more important than murder? I grabbed a random section, penal code section 76. And it’s harassing or threatening politicians. Suddenly I see how it is. But there’s other issues with it too. 273.5 is domestic violence. That means at some point after 274 someone thought, “Oh yeah, Maybe we shouldn’t slap our old ladies around.”, then had to go back and squeeze it in. Then there’s the more obscure ones. 20910 makes pen knives illegal. Is there really a huge market for knives that look like pens? The fact that it took over 20,000 other crimes before it got noticed says no. But my guess is it goes back to the politician thing. Since they never leave their office all day the thought that they could get cut doing paperwork must be terrifying.
