The Canmore Eagles completed a very successful weekend as they defeated the visiting Camrose Kodiaks soundly by a 5-1 score to SWEEP the home doubleheader. With the win, the Eagles improve their record to 29-18-3 for 61 pts. Canmore is still tied with the Okotoks Oilers for 3rd place in the South division and they now have a 6 point lead on the 5th place Kodiaks and they trail the 2nd place Drumheller Dragons by 4 points. The Eagles received goals from 5 different scorers: Trey Phillips (20), Simon Philp (18), Jordan Revie (16), Jeremy Margeson (11) and Captain Nils Moser (3). Revie and Margeson each added a helper for a 2 point night, while Canmore native Luke Simpson picked up a pair of assists. Phillips who leads the team in goals (20) and points (52) has now registered at least a point in 12 consecutive games. 2nd forward Connor Wilson, the team leader in assists (38) got his point streak extended to 10 games. Rookie netminder Ryan Ferguson had another brilliant performance as he made 37 saves to improve his record to an amazing 21-9-2. He was also named the Eagles star of the game. Canmore was outshot 38-33. The Eagles special teams were great as the powerplay struck twice on 6 opportunities, while the penalty kill went 100% as the Kodiaks didnt score on their 6 chances with the man advantage. The Eagles will now hit the road to play their next 4 games, including a 3-game road trip up North next weekend (Bonnyville on Fri. 7, Lloydminster on Sat. 8 and Camrose on Sun. 9). The Eagles next home game is on Saturday, February 15 as we host the Okotoks Oilers for the back end of a big home-and-home series.
