The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation is pleased to announce the release of its 2013 application for the Halo Award, aimed at celebrating and strengthening volunteer efforts throughout Greater Los Angeles and its surrounding counties. We ask that you forward this information across your networks and to your community partners who would benefit most from the award. What is the Halo Award? Building from the valuable partnership that exists between nonprofit organizations and their volunteers, this $25,000 award brings together two distinct pieces in its design: 1. $20,000 grant for a nominating nonprofit to strengthen and sustain its volunteer efforts, and 2. $5,000 award for an exceptional nominated volunteer who has gone "above and beyond" in their volunteer work. Additionally in past year, the Foundation provided coaching services to the Halo Awardees to assist with implementing action plans to strengthen and sustain volunteer efforts within their organizations. How does a nonprofit and volunteer qualify for the Halo Award? A non-profit nominates one unpaid volunteer who has provided consistent and exemplary service and submits an application describing how it plans to strengthen its volunteer management system and program. Nominations will be accepted from nonprofits in and serving the Greater Los Angeles area and its surrounding counties, whose missions align with at least one of the following Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation program areas: . Arts Education . Career and College Access & Retention . Early Childhood Education . Foster Youth . Homelessness Prevention . Mental Health . Veterans . Workforce Development What makes a nonprofit-volunteer pair stand out for this award? . The ideal nonprofit applicant will demonstrate a sustainable strategy to strengthen their volunteer programs. .
