The ancients believed it was Jerusalem, more modern observers thought it was the Sun, the experts at Dog Worlds multimedia hub place the center of the universe as... a caravan park in Leicestershire. Gossip Hound understands Dog World has emailed all the Championship show secretaries offering them free use of the Stanford Hall Caravan Park (one assumes just the grounds) to hold their show. The only snag being theyd have to spend £12 on advertising their show in DWs new, interactive, online show calendar. Dont the Kennel Club have a free show calendar on their website? Dont Higham Press and Fosse Data offer an online entry thingy? The dog papers, including DW itself, offer a mix of free and paid for advertising of dog shows. Gossip Hound can see how the free venue offer might prove tempting to shows already based in the midlands but what of Blackpool, Belfast, Paignton or those north of the border? ... and if a show isnt interested in Stanford Hall why would it advertise in the DW calendar? Patrons will decide if Dog World have come up with a fantastic marketing coup that helps out cash strapped show societies or an unwieldy bolt on to their latest online venture.
