The Certainty of God’s Word Jeremiah 1:12 (NIV) - The LORD - TopicsExpress

The Certainty of God’s Word Jeremiah 1:12 (NIV) - The LORD said to me, You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled. Watch the news and observe the events that are happening around the world. Unprecedented crises are rocking the nations. Discern the trends of many developments and no one would blame you for being a pessimist. There are clear and prescient dangers all around. It is no exaggeration to say that we are living in perilous times. Yet alarming as the situation is, we can afford to be excited and hopeful because it means that our Lord Jesus is coming back soon! Our redemption is drawing near! Presently, we are witnessing a convergence of events that point to our Lord’s return. These biblical signs prophesied by the prophets, apostles and Jesus are happening right before our very eyes. Perhaps the biggest of all these signs is the return of the Jews to their original homeland and the formation of the nation of Israel in 14 May 1948. With it, the hands of the prophetic clock are moving closer to midnight. This is a remarkable event because it is without parallel. How is it possible for a nation of people, which had been scattered throughout different countries around the world, to return after 2,500 years? Of all the ancient people, only three ethnic groups are still present today. They are the Chinese, Indians and Jews. The Italians today are not the ancient Romans. The modern Greeks are not the descendants of the ancient Greeks. It is the same with the Egyptians. China has been separated from other nations by mountains and deserts, and India is locked within a sub-continent. Both their histories are marked by infighting among themselves. One dynasty succeeded a previous dynasty but every dynasty is ruled by people of the same ethnicity. Whereas for the Jews, they had been scattered and everywhere they went, they were often unwelcomed and persecuted. Their history is filled with stories of pogroms and holocausts. As an example, during World War Two, Hitler’s Germany killed 6 million Jews. Remarkably, the Jews not only survived as a race but returned after two and a half millennia to their original homeland, the land of their forefathers. This is a miracle that testifies to the power of God’s Word! They were exiled not once but twice because of their disobedience and rejection of Jesus, their Messiah. However, throughout the Scripture, God has promised to re-gather and restore them to their beloved homeland (Jeremiah 30:3, 31:10-14). The nations might have raged against God and His people but His Word can never fail. What He has promised, He will bring to pass. God assured Jeremiah that He was always watching to see that His word would be fulfilled. Another time, He poetically declared through the prophet Isaiah, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV). This is the certainty of God’s Word! The Middle East is the focal point of bible prophecies. The crises there will get from bad to worse. Radical Islamists, like the ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq & Syria) and Hamas, will continue with their atrocities. Christians will be severely persecuted. Israel will fight more wars. All around the world, anti-Semitism will rise. More and more individuals and even nations will hate Israel. The enemies of Israel, playing the oil card, are one reason. Another reason is religion. But a more significant reason is Satan inciting hatred against the Jews. There is a dark spiritual force at work. Christians have to respond appropriately toward Israel. Most news media reporting are usually biased against Israel, painting Israel in a bad light. Geopolitics is complex but God’s Word is clear. Israel is the apple of God’s eye (Deuteronomy 32:10) and God’s promise to Abraham still stands today. God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her (Genesis 12:3). So, be careful with your stand concerning Israel. God has a plan to turn Israel back to Him and it will happen just as He has revealed in the Scripture. This will take place in the last seven years of this present age. God’s plan cannot be derailed. His purposes will always stand. Pastor Les & Adeline Chua
