The Chicago Transit Authority, the band, not the railroad, began - TopicsExpress

The Chicago Transit Authority, the band, not the railroad, began as a group of DePaul University students that would go on to sell 120 million albums, have 22 gold, 18 platinum, 8 multi-platinum albums. Chart 5 no. 1 albums, have 21 top ten hits, record a movie soundtrack (Electra Glide in Blue) and win a Grammy for If You Leave Me Now. The original members were Robert Lamm, Terry Kath, Peter Cetera, James Pankow, Lee Loughnane, Walter Parazaider, Danny Serahine. Sadly Terry Kath died accidently when a gun he was playing around with, fired, striking him in the head. The band was forced to shorten their name to Chicago when then Mayor Richard J. Daley took exception to their use of the name and had his Chicago Transit Authority threaten to sue. Everybody has a favorite Chicago tune. Lets hear yours!
