The Chicago White Sox versus the Minnesota Twins, Target Field. July 24, 2014, 7:10pm CST. Phil Hughes (RHP), 10-6 with a 4.06 ERA, will take the mound for the Twins, as the visiting White Sox send Hector Noesi (RHP), 4-7 with a 5.21 ERA, to the bump. Phil has rejuvenated his career after moving over from the Yankees. He will feature a 4 seam fastball (92 MPH) (60), a 2 seam fastball (92 MPH) (60), a cutter (88 MPH) (70 MPH) (70), a slider (88 MPH) (50), a Vulcan changeup (88 MPH) (30), a knuckle curve (77 MPH) (50), and a curveball (77 MPH) (60). All of his secondary pitches are just that, secondary. 4 out of 5 pitches that he throws will be a variation of his fastball. If he is controlling the low strike zone with his secondary pitches, he can be impressive. He has had problems keeping his changeup down, and when that happens it has been getting crushed. He needs to get ahead early as his deception is below average. Hector? Take what one can get, and that appears to be an innings eater. It looked as though he was coming around, but has reverted back to his early season form. He will feature a 4 seam fastball (92 MPH) (50), a 2 seam fastball (93 MPH) (60), a slider (88 MPH) (50), a changeup (87 MPH) (60), and a curveball (80 MPH) (50). He needs to go after hitters early, as he is as predictable as the Sun rises and sets when pitching from behind. His velocity is never a question, it is location. He has a tendency to not finish his slider, hanging it, and it becomes a meatball as it is easy to see when up in the zone. If he keeps his 2 seam fastball low in the zone, it is a great pitch with some decent movement that will produce some swings and misses. There will be a moderate hooking wind to left field throughout the game. Thats why...
