The Chinese system of the Spleen has confusingly little common ground with the anatomical spleen. Instead it refers to a functional system with a number of jobs, in particular very much involved in digestion, and the source of replenished post-heaven qi. The reason I love it so much is two reasons, one is so many people can benefit from improving its efficiency and also because it is very treatable in clinic and with proper self care (eg balanced diet and working life), so improvements in health inevitably follow.
