The Chinese tell a tale about a man who catches a fish with golden scales. The fish pleads for freedom and promises a golden rope in exchange. Once the golden rope appears, the man refuses to let the fish go, and continuing to pull on the rope, finds that his boat starts to sink. Regardless, he must find out what the rope leads to and continues to pull, ultimately dragging his boat to the bottom of the ocean and causing his own death. I wonder if the folks at Uber are familiar with this story.
