The Chronicles of my COGIC experience Part 4. Ok so like we’re continuing with our word study and today’s word is ‘Jesus’. So when the slightly drunk visitor came into the sanctuary, she sat quietly in the middle row during the service. After Pastor’s sermon he conducted an invitation on the altar. No one came forward. Yal know that this is COGIC and this is the mid 80‘s, we’re not going forward with the service until somebody come up to the altar to get something from God. After ten minutes had passed, Pastor asked if anyone needed prayer. Finally, the slightly drunk woman came up front for prayer. After the missionaries prayed with her, Pastor walk over to her with the mic and began talking to her. He asked her things like: do she know Jesus, Did you get saved today, will you be back tonight, will you bring your boyfriend with you, do you know what Jesus has done for. She told Pastor, no I didn’t get saved today cuz I need to go home and get myself ready so he can change me. Then she said I gotta go to Peanut’s party tonight, cuz I missed the one last night cuz I was wit his brother. Pastor of course stopped her from talking and tried to refocus her on his topic and asked her: do you love Jesus? she stalled and was fumbling with her jacket, so he asked her again, do you love Jesus? she said I gotta go to the bathroom, he said you can go after you tell me do you love Jesus? Her response was “Naw, I don’t love Jesus cuz he ain’t never bought me nothing to drink. But you did. You gave me $5 that one time yo son gave me $3, so I love you and yo son. Yals is handsome.” She throw her arms around him to hug him and tried to kiss him, the deacons pulled her off, and Pastor is pushing her off of him, everybody is looking to see what 1st Lady’s facial expression is. Yep, she’s holding her face together but she’s pissed. The mother’s board is calling on Jesus right about now and he let her go home and ceased with the questioning. #stopaskingdrunkppldotheylovejesus
