The Cisco Tech Radar 2014 predicts that one of the trends to look out for is Machine-to-Machine connections. In time, practically everything – roads, jet-engine parts, shoes, refrigerators, soil and supermarket shelves – will have cheap, tiny sensors that will generate terabytes of data that can be sifted for key insights.
