The City Council approved hiring a police officer to work in Wenatchee schools but solely under the supervision of the Wenatchee Police Department. The Wenatchee School Board is expected to consider the agreement next week. The district would pay 75 percent of the officer’s $80,000 salary and benefits. The city would pay the rest. Brian Miller has been selected by the city and the school district to be the new officer. Miller has been with the Wenatchee Police Department for 12 years. He’s bilingual, a graduate of Wenatchee High School and has two kids in the Wenatchee district. (full story available at wwrld.us/school-officer)
