The City of Eugene Public Works Engineering Division has been recognized as a gold designated Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists. The designation, announced last week, recognized the innovative ways the division encourages bike ridership: free secure bike parking with access to tools and tire pumps; participating in the Business Commute Challenge; publishing bicycle related events; giving employees access to a bike fleet that includes hybrid bikes, a cargo bike and an electric assist bike; sponsoring Breakfast at the Bike Bridge; giving away helmets, lighting and bike bells at events; participating in the Bicycle Music Fest; Disaster Relief Trials, CycloFemme, and Safe Routes to School program.
