The City of Fort Scott has an immediate opening for an Assistant to the Director of Finance. This position will assist the Director with the daily operations of the Department of Finance. Duties include General Ledger, Budgeting, Payroll, Utility Billing, Cash Collections, Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Project and Grant Administration. Successful candidate must be a confident, self-motivated, independent thinker who possesses the ability to multi-task and is detailed oriented. Candidate must also possess good oral, written and computer skills, must pass physical and drug screenings, must possess valid driver’s license and meet the City’s driving history requirements. Person selected must live in Bourbon County, Kansas or be able to relocate within six (6) months. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and three to five years supervisory experience in financial and accounting administration is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. This is a full time exempt position with a competitive salary and benefit package. Salary is negotiable.
