The City of Goddard is pleased to announce today that the Goddard STAR Bond Application has received Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George’s approval. The project is a major multi-sport athletic complex, which will include a 66,000 square foot aquatic facility, a 4 field tournament quality baseball/softball complex, and a 150 room all-suite hotel and conference center. The aquatic facility will include 2 Olympic standard competition pools, a diving well for springboard, platform diving, and water polo events. The aquatic center will include media rooms and seating for 1,600 visitors. The State of Kansas will issue up to $25,400,000 in STAR Bonds, the City of Goddard will contribute $1,250,000 for infrastructure improvements to serve the district, it is estimated that private equity will contribute more than $44,000,000 in financing for the facility. Total project cost is $155,000,000 and will generate over 400 full-time equivalent jobs with over $8.6 million in annual payroll. At build out, the project is forecast to generate annual retail sales of over $154 million. Phase I of the project is anticipated to begin the summer of 2014 and with a total initial investment of $71,000,000.
