The City of Kawartha Lakes has advised the KATVA team that they are postponing the opening of the trail system due to adverse trail conditions and spring flooding. This includes the VRTC (Victoria Rail Trail Corridor) and ALL trails in the Somerville Forest tracts including but not limited to the Pinery, Marsh and Millennium trails. These trails will remained CLOSED at this time and will NOT open as of May 1st, 2014. The City of Kawartha Lakes will continue to monitor conditions on these trails and they will advise the KATVA team when they are ready to open the trails. The Millennium trail is scheduled to remain closed until June 1, 2014, regardless of the status of the remaining trails, to prevent further damage to that trail. The 5 Points trail system will still open as of May 1st, as scheduled. Please respect the rules and dont use the trails until we have been advised that they are open for the season. Its our privilege to use these trails, and we can lose them quickly if we dont stay off of them when we are asked to. Thank You, KATVA Team
