The City of San Marcos advises that evacuations have been lifted for people who live in the following areas: --South of Highway 78 and west of Via Vera Cruz, including the community of Lake San Marcos. The areas include about 3,000 residents. Since the Cocos fire broke out in the San Marcos area Wednesday, May 14, the Sheriff’s Department has issued almost 76,000 AlertSanDiego evacuation notices via phone, text or email. Those who are still under evacuation as a result of the Cocos Fire can go to the shelter at Mission Hills High School at 1 Mission Hills Hills Court in San Marcos.
