The Clear Distinction Between a Salafi & a Takfiri Khaariji by FollowingtheSunnah The Clear Distinction Between a Salafi[1] & a Takfiri[2] Khaariji[3] Translated & Edited By Abbas Abu Yahya The Salafi is not like the Takfiri [4] Allaah Taala says: أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُون 《Shall We then treat the (submitting) Muslims like the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists and disbelievers), What is the matter with you? How do you judge?》[Qalam: 35] The Salafi is not like the Takfiri in Aqeedah (Belief) □ The Salafi believes that the weakness of the Muslims[5] is due to their sins[6], of which the greatest is committing Shirk with Allaah. This is why his single most important concern is Dawa to Tawheed[7] and following the Messenger. Also any sinful Muslim is under the Will of Allaah, either Allaah will forgive him or punish him but he will not remain in the Hell-Fire for ever, except for dying upon Shirk. The Takfiri believes that the weakness of the Muslims is due to the authority of the rulers and them overpowering the Muslims. This is why the Takfiri declares the rulers not to be Muslims[8], and this is why his single most important concern is fighting the rulers and removing them from authority. . . The Takfiri excommunicates and declares any sinful Muslim to be a non-Muslim and confined to the Hell-Fire for eternity. . . . □ The Salafi regards those who support security and the Muslim armies to be their Muslim brothers. They make Dua for them with goodness[9] and guidance. . . The Takfiri regards those who support security and the Muslim armies to be non Muslims, apostates having left the Deen of Islaam . . . A Salafi is not like a Takfiri in Manhaj (Methodology) □ The Salafi keeps away from the people of Bida and warns against changing the Deen. A Takfiri unites with the people of Bida aiding in destructing the perfection of the Deen.[10] The Salafi is not like the Takfiri in aspects of Ibaadah (worship) □ The Salafi is moderate in his worship following the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- and the Salaf.[11] A Takfiri is extreme in worship. The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- mentioned about them: . . . .a people who would recite the Qur’aan, and your recital would seem insignificant compared with their recital, as would your prayer as compared with their prayer, and your fast, as compared with their fast.[12] The Salafi is not like the Takfiri in Akhlaaq (Manners) □ The Salafi has Noor on his face, always smiling[13] and gives Salam[14] to whom he knows and to whom he does not know[15]. . . A Takfiri has darkness in his eyes[16], always miserable, he does not hasten to give Salam, and if he is given Salam he only responds by indicating and nodding with his head[17]. A Salafi is not like a Takfiri in giving Dawa □ When you hear a Salafi speaking, you can hear him say, Allaah said, the Messenger said and the scholars say. . .[18] When you hear a Takfiri speaking, you can hear him say, Sayyid Qutb said, Bin Laden said, Abu Qatadah said. . . □ When a Salafi wants to give Dawa to someone he tells him about Tawheed and its divisions, then he gives him a book or audio about Aqeedah by the senior people of knowledge. . . When a Takfiri wants to give Dawa to someone he tells him about Jihad then he gives him a video clip which has an-Nasheed, and combat training in the mountains of Afghanistan, and self exploding Jihadis in Iraq. . . A Takfiris way of Dawa is imitating the Kuffar by going out on protests and demonstrations. سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وبَحَمْدكَ أشْهدُ أنْ لا إلهَ إلا أنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وأتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ All Praise belongs to Allaah, may His peace and blessings be upon our final Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions and all those who follow his guidance. [4] Shaykh, Allaama, Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Azeez bin Abdullaah Bin Baz (d. 1420 A.H.) was asked: What is your reply to the one who says: Indeed the Aqeedah of the Khawarij was the Aqeedah Salafeeyah, and they the Khawarij are the Salafis? The Shaykh answered: This statement is false, the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – invalidated this with his statement about the Khawarij: The Mariqa (a sect from Khawarij) who would exit when there would arise division in my Ummah, a person would deem his prayer insignificant compared with their prayer, and his reciting of the Quraan as compared with their reciting. They would exit Islaam like an arrow goes through the hunted animal. Kill them where ever you meet them, since indeed in killing them there is a reward for the one who kills them. [Collected by Bukhari in Kitab al-Munaqib in the chapter Signs of Prophet hood in Islaam.] In another wording from the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – where he said about the Khawarij, that they are: They (the Khawarij) kill the people of Islaam and leave alone the idolaters. [Collected by Bukhari in Kitab Ahadeeth of the Prophets] It is known from their Aqeedah that they excommunicate (make Takfeer) of the sinful from the Muslims, and they judge that the sinful are in the Hell-Fire for eternity. This is why Ali -Radhi Allaahu anhu- fought them likewise did the Companions and other than them, so Ali fought them and killed them on the day of Nahrawan, may Allaah be pleased with him and all the Companions. Allaah is the One who gives success. [From: binbaz.org.sa/mat/4167 - Fatawa 28/253] [5] In a narration from Ibn Umar from the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – who said: إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ ، وَأَخَذْتُمْ أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ ، وَرَضِيتُمْ بِالزَّرْعِ ، وَتَرَكْتُمْ الْجِهَادَ ، سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ ذُلًّا لَا يَنْزِعُهُ حَتَّى تَرْجِعُوا إِلَى دِينِكُمْ ‘If you deal with interest, hold on to the tails of cows, become pleased with agriculture and leave off Jihad, Allaah will afflict you with humiliation, which will not be removed until you return to your religion. [Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah 5/13-14] Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen -Rahimullaah- said: حسن العبادة أهم من كثرة العبادة Worship which is good is more important than a lot of worship. [Bloogh al-Murraam 3/524] [12] The description of the Khawarij: Narrated by Zaid bin Wahb al-Juhani who reported: That he was amongst the army which was with Ali -Radhi Allaahu anhu- and which went out against the Khawarij. Ali -Radhi Allaahu anhu- said: ‹O people, indeed I heard the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- say: «There would arise from my Ummah a people who would recite the Qur’aan, and your recital would seem insignificant compared with their recital, as would your prayer as compared with their prayer, and your fast, as compared with their fast. They would recite the Qur’aan thinking that it supports them, whereas it is an evidence against them. Their prayer does not get beyond their throats..[Bukhari] [13] From Abu Dharr From the Prophet: ‘Smiling in your brothers face is charity (Sadaqah) for you. [Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah No. 572] [14] From al-Bara bin ‘Aazib who said that the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: ‘There are no two Muslims who meet and shake hands except they are forgiven before they separate.’ [Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah No.525] [15] From Abdullaah bin Amr bin Al-Aass -Radhi Allaahu anhu- that a man asked Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam: What part of Islaam is the best? The Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- replied: تُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ ، وَتَقْرَأُ السَّلاَمَ عَلَى مَنْ عَرَفْتَ وَمَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفْ That you feed people, and give Sallam to the one whom you know and the one whom you do not know. [Collected by Bukhari & Muslim] [16] From Sahl bin Sa’d in a narration ascribed to the Prophet: -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam: “The believer is friendly, there is no good in the one who does not take friends and cannot be befriended.” [Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah No.425] [17] Allaah Taala said: { وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا أَوْ رُدُّوهَا } [ النساء : 86 ] > [18] Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah –Rahimullaah - mentioned: ‘Knowledge is what Allaah said what His Messenger said and what the Companions said..’ [An-Nooneeyah by Ibn al-Qayyim (al-Shafi al-Kafi)]
