The Coalition Government has given the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission additional horsepower to dig deeper into fuel pricing. We’re concerned as we look across the regions to see that, while the price fall has been welcome, only a fraction of the fall in cities has translated to the regions. We have tasked the ACCC to report quarterly, not annually, on what is happening across the Australian market. This includes looking at margins, looking at what is happening with the price of oil, retail price trends and what is being published at terminal gates. The Government will bring a bright spotlight on fuel pricing and how consumers are being treated.
