The Coalition government is “very comfortable with the case for the social sciences,” and would maintain its broad base, David Willetts MP, the minister for Universities and Science, has said. “It would be a tragedy if any minister in any British government were to say ‘we can afford the physics but not the social sciences’,” Mr Willetts told the launch of a longitudinal studies booklet, published by the Campaign, on 11 June 2013.
